My score is going in the right direction... down! Last weekend I shot an 87 and finally broke 90 for the firs time! I set this goal at the beginning of the year and figured I could accomplish it rather easily. The problem was completing a FULL round. On multiple occasions I shot a front 9, or back 9 in the low 40's, which should convert to my low score. However, as golf would go I had one or two bad holes which screws up my score. Well, I am proud to say it all finally came together and I got one step closer to breaking 80! I am working long hours now and have not had much time to golf, but I do hit the range when I can and hopefully the weather will stay mild here in the Mid-Atlantic to get a few more good months of golf in this year.

My second golf galaxy lesson
I recently took my second golf lesson with Leigh Taylor at Golf Galaxy. We worked on some drills targeting my problem at impact position. Through the impact zone I tend to flip my wrists which causes inconsistency in my ball striking. This also causes my elbows to bow out at impact with my wrists. To correct this problem we used a coat hanger with 3/4 pipe insulation surrounding it. You will see this in the video and is something you could easily build if you are having the same problem. Watch the before and after and notice the increase in arm extension! I made my own coat hanger and have been bringing it to the driving range. I warm up with it before every session and it helps me to remeber what the extension feels like. Therefore I will not slip back into my old BAD habits! Until next time

Driving Range practicing club lag and impact position!
I Hit the driving range yesterday to practice some new drills. I took lesson #2 from Golf Galaxy and I will post the video soon. My biggest issue in my golf swing is lag and impact position. I hit about 250 balls yesterday working on proper hand hinge creating the correct lag into impact position. It is AMAZING the amount of distance I gain when I hit the ball at the proper impact position. Previously I have been flicking my wrist at the ball, too much right hand which causes me to loose the lag in my club and severely cripples power and consistent club on ball impact. I have been working on picturing the butt end handle of the club following the target line of the swing and ball down into impact. This has helped but it is still proving very difficult to do consistently. I would say I am currently hitting it correct 4/10 swings. I am going to continue working on this, once conquered this will be the biggest improvement in my swing since I started golfing!

My first video lesson
This blog will be a great way to help me stay motivated and keep track of my progress!
I am currently working on my GHIN card, I have five rounds under my belt and my handicap is currently around 18. It is not official yet as my card has not been completed. I have a long way to go in order to lower my score and a lot to work on. However, I recently took my first video at golf galaxy and WOW was I impressed. I highly recommend this to anyone trying to work on their swing. It is affordable and really points to the weakness in your own swing. Where I am currently living in PA I am lucky to have a Master PGA Professional as the instructor. Anyone who has golfed with me in the past knew my swing was "a little off" but its amazing what slow motion can tell you. I also really like how they put it side by side with a PGA Tour golfer. The golfer I am lined up with is Trevor Immelman. It really helps to watch the videos simultaneously to point out the differences every step of the way. Anyway here is the link to my video which is posted on Youtube. Check it out and tell me what you think! My first Video lesson
